Take a look at how members are engaging their communities for CCA. Thank you Ladies! You are awesome! Please keep us posted and remember to take pictures!
Feature Story (from CCA email newsletter) -On April 28, the CCA Charity League hosted their Second Annual High Tea. They knew that the event would bgring awareness to the league and to CCA, but they never expected the impact it would have on one of the attendees…
This year’s tea hosted 210 guests (nearly double the inaugural year) including several of CCA’s Service Directors and the new President, Ron Batts with his wife and daughter. Sitting at one of the tables was a young woman who was a friend of a friend that just wanted to attend a tea. She didnt’ know what organization was hosting. As Yvonne Booker, CCA’s Director of Vocational Services spoke about CCA programs, this young woman burst into tears. She shared her story with those at her table. When she was a teen, her family had fallen on hard times. Her mother had sought the help of CCA. She recalled going to the Christmas Toy Store and helping her mother select gifts for her younger siblings. She said that if it werent’t for CCA, they wouldn’t have had a Christmas that year. She was very thankful.
Through ticket sales, silent auction and a raffle, the tea raised nearly $4,000 for programs that the Charity League supports like Toy Store for Teens, Back to School and Adopt-a-Shelf, but the biggest impact of that day was the reminder of every life that it changed bgy what we do here at CCA.
